See recipe card for quantities.
Substitutions
- Dairy-free - use a plain dairy-free yogurt. If possible use a thicker yogurt.
- Low-fat - use low-fat yogurt instead of full-fat. It will taste more tangy and tart in flavor so you may need to adjust the rest of the seasonings a bit.
- Mint - use fresh mint leaves in place of the dill for a Greek yogurt mint sauce.
Variations
- Tzatziki - add in shredded or finely diced cucumber. Use about ¼ cup to ½ cup of cucumber. This will add some texture and freshness!
- Feta - add ¼ cup of feta cheese crumbles
- Spicy - add in a minced jalapeño pepper.
- Dill pickle dip - add in ¼ cup to ½ cup of chopped dill pickles!
- Less tart - add a drizzle of honey or maple syrup.
Step by Step Instructions
Add the greek yogurt, dill, lemon zest, lemon juice and salt to a mixing bowl.
Mix together until combined.
Hint: if possible, allow the dip to sit for 30 minutes to 1 hour before serving. This will allow all of the flavors to marinate together.
Storage
Store the yogurt dill sauce in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Make sure to stir it well before serving as yogurt tends to separate.
I do not recommend freezing this sauce.
Tips and Tricks
- Use full-fat Greek yogurt for a more rich and creamy taste! The full-fat yogurt balances out the rest of the flavors in this dip.
