tips & tricks

Although this is a simple recipe, I have a couple tips to share with you! First off, I HIGHLY recommend using fresh lime juice rather than bottled. You’ll be surprised at how much better it tastes than the fake stuff from the bottle. Secondly, if you like spicy salsa, do not remove the seeds from the jalapeno. The seeds hold a lot of that heat! Lastly, there is no added salt in this recipe. This is because most of the time you’ll probably eat watermelon salsa with tortilla chips, which are really salty to begin with! I find that the sweetness of the watermelon goes perfectly with the salty chips. Additionally, adding salt to the salsa will cause the watermelon to “sweat” more, resulting in more liquid at the bottom of the bowl. So leave that salt out of there!

Watermelon salsa is a refreshing, easy to make appetizer or snack!

2 cups watermelon, diced

2 tbsp white onion, diced

½ jalapeno, seeded and diced

2 tbsp cilantro, chopped

½ lime, juiced

1 bag tortilla chips

Combine all ingredients in a large bowl. Serve with chips.

If you want a spicy salsa, do not remove the jalapeno seeds.

There is no salt in this recipe. I find the saltiness of the tortilla chips to be enough.
