Apple ginger margaritas are without a doubt here to spice things up! Basically, we’ve got sugar, spice and everything nice in this fall cocktail! Apple cider has always been my fall beverage of choice, so I knew I had to use it in a recipe! The apple cider brings an element of sweetness to the margarita, while the ginger brings a bit of spice!
Why You Should Make Apple Ginger Margaritas
- You only need a few simple ingredients to wow your taste buds!
- Think margarita, but make it Fall! What’s not to love?
- Sip on this while you’re preparing Thanksgiving dinner! Or you'll at least be able to keep everyone else out of the kitchen with these margs.
What's in This Recipe?
- Ginger root - you can find this near the garlic and shallots at most grocery stores.
- Lime juice - fresh squeezed is ALWAYS better. Don’t come at me if you make it with that stuff in a bottle. I can already tell you it won’t taste as good.
- Tequila - pick your favorite.
- Apple cider - look for it during the Fall months!
- Ginger beer - this will add a nice fizzy element and extra ginger flavor.
- Sugar - for the rim of the glass.
- Ice - it's a cozy drink but you still want it cold!
- Apple slices - totally optional, throw them into the glass and use as a garnish!
- Crystalized ginger - you can add this right on top of your drink or stick it on a skewer or toothpick.
How to Make Apple Ginger Margaritas
- Rub a lime wedge or water over the rim of your glass. Turn the glass upside down and dip the rim into the sugar until it is coated. Set aside.
- Add the sliced ginger and lime juice to a cocktail shaker or jar. Muddle the ginger to help release it’s flavor.
- Add the ice, tequila and apple cider. Shake to combine.
- Pour the margarita into the sugar rimmed glass. Top it off with the ginger beer. Garnish with apple slices and crystalized ginger. Cheers!
Tips & Tricks
- Use fresh ginger root rather than one in a bottle or jar. Fresh ginger has the zing you need to make this drink pop!
- I’ve only tried this with apple cider, however if you’re in a pinch I think apple juice would be a decent substitute.
- Additionally, if you can’t find ginger beer or simply don’t want to buy it, try using ginger ale to top off your drink. It should still add ginger flavor and fizz!
- If you don’t have a muddler, just use the end of a wooden spoon to squish the ginger as much as you can.
